São Paulo – A spokesperson for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) announced yesterday (02) that the institution has approved a US$ 150 million loan to Unibanco bank. The funds, according to the IDB, are for a line of credit for middle- and long-term projects in infrastructure, to be istered by Brazilian companies and by Brazilian branches of companies that are of the multilateral bank.
According to the spokesperson, the loan is part of an initiative for "compensation of the reduced direct private fund flow in the middle and long term." The institution hopes that the deal will have a "catalytic effect" on investment in infrastructure in Brazil.
Of the total loan, US$ 50 million will be IDB funds and the remains will be funds from commercial banks and other financial institutions.
