Latin America was the only region to see an increase in handled cargo, according to the IATA. Global flows were down 4.7%.

From January to July, the volume handled reached 76.33 million tons, the port’s best performance for the period. However, last month, cargo-handling declined 1.5%.
Brazil’s main port complex loaded and unloaded 64.5 million tons of cargo in the first half of the year, up 5.6% over the same period of last year.
Throughput at government-managed ports in the country was up 3.2% in the first quarter, while privately-run terminals saw a 2.3% decline in cargo handled.
