Sales from Egypt to the Brazilian market increased by 99.2% in the first quarter of this year. Shipments from Brazil to the Arab country were also up, especially those of cotton and live cattle.

Two thousand eight hundred cattle from the Northern Brazilian state of Pará were shipped. Another 3,000 animals are expected at the Jorf Lasfar port on April 8. The Moroccan government waivered the import tariff for 30,000 livestock until the end of this year.
The Egyptian market bought 81,300 tonnes of Brazilian beef from January to August this year, up 96.8%.
Foreign sales of cattle meat decreased in of volume and revenue as most major destinations, including Egypt, stepped down their purchases.
Shipped volume climbed 2% in September, even though export revenues decreased. China remains the leading importer year-to-date, with Egypt in second.
According to the ministry, the fat cattle arroba price dropped by 15% from early to late December. But the price is expected to remain higher than a year ago.
IBGE survey also shows a recovery in shrimp farming and a decline in the head of cattle numbers in the country.
